how do people make mods for games?
were do they begin?
how do they learn how to make the mods work with hardware like my g15 when they start from scratch with no information about how to get the information out of the game or how to make it work with the keyboard.
How do people create these mods for games so that they can be played in multiplayer when the whole essance of the game was designed to be single player.
I mean i can type all day on code, weeks even and and not have an entire megabyte of code and the people who make these mods have 30 to 40 megabyte files for the mod.
Also there not getting paid to do it and while mods are very cool i cant see myself spending months on a mod for free just play say elder scrolls in multiplayer

Doom is free.
It's on a (their official?) website.

I'm sorry, before I lose it to people who have to use every last technical detail yet complain at you for following the rules, let me rephrase this for you:
The Quake series with the exception of the latest and greatest (meaning "up to" Quake III/Quake III expansion sets) is free to download the source code files.

Thank you.

Thank you.
Please point out where I can (legally) download the artwork, models, and sounds for Quake I-IV.
Please point out where I can (legally) download the source code for Quake IV or Doom 3 (id Tech 4).
Edit: Oops, meant id Tech 4 not 5.
