My Grandmother is on Twitter, is yours?

Posted 06 February 2009 - 03:43 PM

My Mother has been on Twitter for a while. She has a blog and she has always been 'in-tune' with the Internets I guess. It surprises some people but I've always considered her to be a half-geek of sorts so I never thought it was a big deal.

Well, today my 70 year old Grandmother joined Twitter. I guess I'm looking forward to reading her updates and seeing how she gets into it. I think its a little strange that a website like Twitter would be of any interest to her. But how many people can say their Grandmother is on Twitter right?

So, here's the question of the day - Do you have any parents, grandparents etc. rockin' the social networking scene?

Discuss.

Nope. My grandparents on my father's side have passed away, and the ones on my mother's side are mostly computer-illiterate. My granddad has a computer, but all he really does on it is music stuff.

My grandparents are long gone, so I sincerely hope they are not on Twitter, at least not following me if they are. Folks are alive, but certainly not into the social networking scene (or even a web presence of any kind). they are both in their 70's...no excuses given the age of Marko's grandma, but I don't expect them to adopt it any time soon :).

My grandparents have been gone for about 10 years. I'm a bit skeptical about the usefulness of Twitter myself though, but then I don't feel compelled to tell people every mundane detail of my day (as many do).

I think twitter is useless, I was reluctant to even start my project log. I refuse to call it a 'blog' even. I also have a hard time getting into forums that aren't this one- I end up just reading posts and then not feeling like posting at the end. It's really just my email and IM.

My grandpa (mom's side) has a computer, but he only uses it to check out stocks, check his email, and get spyware.

My mom and dad are both on Facebook. They're not in any special permissions group, but I did threaten to de-friend my mom once if she didn't stop posting weird stuff on my wall.

As far as I know my grandparents don't do much on the web. I am pretty sure that my parents don't do much either, but I know my dad has a Linkedin account.

Both Grandparents on my mom's side have passed, and my both grandmother's on my dad side passed as well, one when I was in the second grade, and the other 2 years ago....they better not be on Twitter either. My living grandpa doesn't do anything but emails on his computer.

As for my parents, until I gave my dad step by step instructions on how to turn on a computer, he never touched one. As for my mom, she stalks me online....so have to remove my sister from my facebook and myspace accounts.....

No...

Let's just say whenever my family need anything even the slightest bit tech related they go get me.

My grandparents are gone. My father insists the computer is the devil and my mom called me to ask how to get a file off the "stick thing" somebody gave her (ie, thumb drive).... their Twitter days are long off.
