For those living in other countries then US/UK. Just check with your university before contacting microsoft. Mine here in Norway is part of the program. I can get all tools except Windows server 2008 for some reason.

There is actually no Windows Server 2007. There is only 2003 and 2008. Are you getting any errors when downloading or it is just not available?

Does anyone know how to add a school to the list? I attend Troy University in Alabama and would really like to get this software for my C++ programming class.

You have to contact both your school principal and Microsoft to include your school in the list. As far as I know, right now they only add colleges to the list. However, if you are a high school student, you can apply by passing the student verification process, that is managed by JourneyEd, and then, if you are verified, you will get a personal link to the DreamSpark software resources.

What happens if i need to reinstall my copy of VS2008 on my new computer? Soon I may have a new computer for college, and I will want to put a copy on that. Dreamspark doesn't answer that question in their FAQ, except by saying you are allowed to have one copy. It doesn't mention what happens if you uninstall/lose your original copy. Will I have to re-register under my college?

As far as I know, you must have only one copy installed. If you want to put it on another computer, you will have to uninstall the software from the previous computer and install it on the new one.

I would still contact Microsoft regarding this question.

I have been a part of this program for over a year now, and haven't had to re-register or anything.

Also as far as VS2008, I have installed my copy 3 times over two machines and haven't had any issues or problems installing them. So I literally have two running, working copies, one for my laptop and one on my tower.

Basically, it works if you approach the problem from the software side. However, by using the software the way you do, you violate the EULA, which states that you can only install a copy of the software on one machine. If you want to install it on another machine, you have to delete the copy on the previous machine.
