I tried using the above code to add an image to an IMAGELIST but it is to no success.

I want to know if there is a way to add an image to an image list via code as opposed to using the collection.

From what I understand... The above code that I used should work but I don't know why it doesn't

You're trying to add a string representation of an image to an ImageList, whereas the ImageList needs an actual image. Try this route

Dim img As System.Drawing.Image.FromFile("DSCF00082.jpg")
imageList1.Images.Add(img)

Hope that helps figure this out for you
