Loading SQL Server

Can we load sql server with out installing sql server in any computer. I mean to say Can't we copy all the files required by sql server to our own path and load it our self programmatically.

You can check out SQL Server Express but other than that SQL Server needs to be installed to use it. You can install it on a central system (such as a server) and access it that way, but it does have to be installed somewhere
