@ aroymart - What is the ISBN of the book you are using? The only reason I ask is that sometimes older books will be a bit off as far as the syntax goes. Most of the functions and basic logic will be the same, but it is generally best to use up-to-date books.

From personal experience, I hate the "For Dummies" series... they just aren't as professionally designed and written as a book, for example, from the O'Reily series.

I'd update... that book was published in 2004, meaning it was written in 03-04. Being 2009, and programming languages constantly changing like they are, I'd get a newer resource.

The internet is your friend. You can find everything in that book, but completely up to date... PLUS infinite more examples online.

Just my $0.02...

Seriously, why don't you just download Visual Studio C++ 2008 Express Edition?

It's 100% free, and you can download the Dark GDK plugin, which is used in designing games... also 100% free.

Do you need download links?

Good lord.

1) Take your email address out of your signature. It's a surefire way to get plenty of spam.

2) http://codeblocks.org

3) http://lmgtfy.com/?q=rpg+maker

4) Typing something in a text editor and it spitting out C++? No. Just no. Type C++ code into a text editor, compile it, and watch the magic happen.

-_-

Looking at your profile, I see you're only 12 years old. Don't get me wrong, it's great to start young - but you have to actually try stuff. Starting isn't gonna be easy, but it's worth it in the end.

What do you MEAN "it didn't work"!?!??! It says right in your signature that:

"I have downloaded Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition"...

First off, why download the outdated software, when it is free?

Second off, what are you talking about?

You just don't "type into text editor and watch it shit out C++ code"... it just DOESN'T work that way!

Sorry for getting frustrated, but this conversation is going absolutely nowhere, fast. You've asked the same question 10 times, and it's been answered the same way... 10 times. "Codes" aren't just magically created, you need to write them yourself!

If you want a more hassle-free IDE, try Dev-C++.

You've never worked with libraries before? You've never fiddled with the compiler options to produce the kind of code you want? You've never had to set paths for inclusion? That's odd for someone who claims they have been programming C++ for 9 years.
