A buddy and I were talking the other day, and we both started to wonder why people want to be rich and famous. It seems like nobody is happy with their lives because they're always chasing more. It seems like people would be much happier if they appreciated what they have, instead of focusing on what they don't. I have no desire to be rich or famous, just happy. Anybody have an insight?

It's grass is greener style of thinking. I believe it has something to do with wanting to be popular in school (or maybe even have been popular in school) & they just never grow out of it. Maybe mom & dad gave them a lot of attention as a child, but once they reached teenage years, the attention got less, causing the desire.
Maybe it's because in movies, the rich & famous got it good & easy, lots of friends, no worries & care free. Some sort of MTV lifestyle.
What I like best about it, is the people whom want it the most want it handed to them. They don't want to work for anything.
Just my opinions, nothing else.

Yeah I've noticed that too. If you really do want to be rich and famous, cool, whatever. Just make sure you're willing to work for it. Hard work is definitely something I can relate to, and nothing pisses me off more than someone who doesn't want to work for what they want out of life.
I'll stop before I rant.

I want to be rich, but not famous.
I tend to have a grass is greener thinking in a sense. I am from Toledo, Toledo sucked ass - so far the grass has been greener in Columbus.
Even when I lost my job after relocating I found another job and still haven't missed my home town. Plus I still make more than any job I could have gotten in Toledo.
Now the ultimate goal is to work my way deeper into the midwest. (ie. Chicago, Kansas City) however I can't just up and move cause kids are involved.

Quite a quandary this is... I want to be wealthy but I would like to live modestly. I would amount my wealth. So I would buy nice things once in awhile but most of all I would like to experience everything life has to offer the good times and bad.

I would think that the majority of people would like to be rich, so they don't have to get up early and go to a job they would rather not have(be honest) and spend the day doing something they would rather not do.
Wash, rinse and repeat
Every day
Until you're 65.
And then you're dead.

I want to be rich so I can go to the driving range and hit Fabergé eggs with a seven iron. Then when people look at me all shocked, I can wink and be all like 'Yeah, that's how I roll.' Then I'd sip my double Crown and coke and think to myself 'Man, you know what would be good for lunch? A seven layer burrito.'
But you gotta count the layers...they're always trying to screw you on the layers.

being famous for the wrong reasons would suck... I would never want hollywood fame, but if I do something great in life, I would want recognition.
I want to have enough money to live comfortably, but I dont need billions of dollars.
I think some people are just greedy

No thanks you can keep your fame...The money would be nice, but then the question becomes, how much money is too much money. Some of these athletes, actors, singers make way too much money. Most will never spend off of it in two life times.
If they all took a pay cut, we could probably use that money to pull this economy out of the shitter.
