what is the paypal and merchant account??when I use paypal and when we can use merchant account?? what are those main differences between them?? and how we implement paypal and merchant account usually??

I think I would go to the Paypal Developer's web site for answers to these questions. But what do I know?

When someone buys something from your website, a merchant account is the "virtual bank account" which holds the money from all the transactions throughout the day and then sends all the money to your real bank at night. Paypal is essentially a merchant account, but they're probably not the one you want to use as your primary. Research around for alternatives and use Paypal as a backup.

I would check out authorize.net if I were you. They are not the merchant account but you can get a merchant account setup through them. I have 3 different accounts and use authorize.net to process them all. I use BOA and American Express as my merchant accounts, but the main front end is authorize.net.

The difference is anyone can have a PayPal account, but the merchant account is special for businesses. You get a return on the money that you keep in your PayPal account (like a money market account) but you also have to pay a percentage fee when you receive payments to your account.

I have BOA as merchan account,could you please direct me how can i implement payment gateway using authorized.net.
If you could provide sample code it would be far beneficial for me, as i am using payment gateway as very first time. (I am using asp.net with vb)

You would need to check with the documentation of Authorized.net, I have never heard of them before, & no idea how they work.
