Fundacja Gdanska

Posted 06 May 2004 - 12:33 AM

I'm starting a site for a Foundation. it's really basic layout at the moment... a sketch really.. (so don't say the blue is too bright.. or sumthin).

I have 3 problems, each with a different browser...

Firefox: Most of the time, it doesn't load centred. Usually the left side is smaller than the right side by about 100px. (strange thing is, sometimes it DOES open centred)

Opera: does NOT load centred at all.. no lefthand side

IE: page does not meet the right edge... just stops about 10px before the scroll bars/edge...

Could somebody check this out. I can't seem to find a solution.

youll have to make some adjustments, but this code was quick and easy and works fine in all Mac browsers:

<html>
<head>
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>

<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000" link="#CC0000" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
  <tr>
    <td background="images/top_back_right.jpg">
<table width="760" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">
  <tr>
    <td width="760" height="200" bgcolor="#FF0000">&nbsp;</td>
  </tr>
</table>

	</td>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>&nbsp;</td>
  </tr>
</table>

</body>
</html>

well, layout and design has changed... new problem ;)

how can i get the footer and the main column to be the height(minus bits) of the page and the footer to always be on the bottom??

I've tried CSS position:absolute; bottom:0; and it droped it place at load, but when moving the scroll bar, it scrolls with the page.

how can I get it to stay at the bottom when I scroll too? is that possible without frames?

PS: link in first post

use 'fixed' instead of absolute.

If that doesn't work, use 'static'.

UPDATE:

still need to fix things up... title images, menu, content, err... and image names :P

title images are still pretty raw... haven't played much with tem yet

might as well start doing a site check, too... all critique is welcome...

currently, i'm trying to get my middle column table to extend down to the bottom of the screen, and IT forcing the footer to the edge...

i figured, most pages will be long, and will force it anyway... so I gotta get that table to extend all the way, for smaller content pages... ie. kontakt, zarzad...

using the CSS stuff didn't make it work as i wanted it... the footer acted really weird...

The top banner is broken between the middle section and the left/right sections (middle section being offset lower) on Safari.

hrm... everything works fine on firefox, opera, and ie... have no way of testing on safari....

and, i'd be surprised if even 1 user from the target audience had a mac...

but, i'll see what i can do... could you send a screen grab??

well it looks like it's missed loading a row in the table... there's no shadow image between the flash header and the title image...

thanks

Ya .. Safari's really strict about css/div stuff - even more so than FireFox in my experience.

Beautiful.

The lefthand column blue/tan horizonal line is slightly more pale than the horizontal line in the middle column.

no, it's actually on purpose :) I want to keep the vertical edge and the horizontal flow-across...

i just haven't done it in the footer....
