Resume Groupings

Posted 16 March 2009 - 04:57 AM

Last night I ranted on in the Java forum about NOT learning technologies just to put them on your resume. -- But that got me thinking that in my field (Enterprise Content Management) there are certain things we are looking for on resume's.

So: What technologies do you work with? What things would you recommend someone have on their resume?

For example: I would in Enterprise Content Management/Document Management

Primary Platform: Java/J2EE
Related Technologies:
EDBMS -- Oracle, DB2, SQLServer
J2EE Containers -- Tomcat, Oracle Weblogic, IBM Websphere
Frameworks -- Struts, Hibernate, Spring

Webservices! (Axis/JAX-WS).

Writing JSP tag libraries.
Ajax.
XSLT

Esoteric knowledge that would be a plus:

Akami API
Autonomy API

Sure there are other things we work with, but the above are some things that *I think* someone may want to fit into their resume if they were looking for a job in my field.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

I would do language with an appropriate API (depending on the job):

Examples:
C++ DirectX
Java QT

Then You could group languages that correlate like server side and client side

Examples:
Java JSP
PHP whatever PHP people use? (I have no idea)

You pretty much covered it here though:

I don't see how anyone would disagree with that assessment.
