I use vlc with ffmpeg to rip DVD and it works great:

RIPPING DVD
  • use VLC to rip MPEG-TS stream vlc-output.ts
  • ffmpeg -i vlc-output.ts -f avi -vcodec rawvideo -s 640x480 -acodec pcm_s16le -b 7500 -ab 128 -ar 44100 -bf 2 vlc-output.avi

then take it from .avi to whatever format you want.

Ta-da!

Thanks man Appreciate it

I was actually thinking about using the TV output on the all in wonder to the tv input on the all in wonder videocapture block to snag my 3 minute clip However I am not at home to try either

vlc with ffmpeg will give you a lossless all-digital transcoding. I can't vouch for how good those 'puts will be if you're going d-to-a, across a cable, then a-to-d again.

If you're just looking to dupe DVDs, try DVDShrink:

Spoofee just announced today that they're giving it away free.

I was just looking for clips

apparently my mothers BF is a video editor for a TV station and he helped me get them ( used some pro gear like they use for the news clips)

Probably. That's what I use. Not because it's a Mac. Because it's UNIX with the coolest GUI ever invented.
