Just don't download shady stuff. And if you do make sure your AV is up to date.

It's been a pretty prevalent worm over the last little while, the cause of some pretty hardcore stoppages (shutdown of Houston police traffic related computers for a few days and the grounding of French naval planes for a few days are the two that most easily come to mind. That being said, there are removal tools out there, and any reputable anti virus software will help guard against it pretty effectively.
