Given a choice I use Eclipse 90% of the time. I use JDeveloper for UML. Much to my dismay I am forced to use NetBeans for GUI work much of the time (because my coworkers suck). Many customers use IBM's version(s) of Eclipse so sometime I can be found using WASAD or RAD. When developing for Weblogic I like to use weblogic workshop.

I envy those who have the luxury of a single IDE.

Eclipse for me.. found it pretty good uptil now..Now I am used to all the shortcut keys which makes switching a pain, until another IDE has something, path breaking to offer..

I use Eclipse. That's what was recommended to me when I first started learning how to program. I haven't really tried anything else.

Used Eclipse personally an professionally for several years. Lately Netbeans has started to not suck (6.5+) and I have enjoyed using it for whipping up a quick and dirty Swing UI. It's also great for use in developing Java EE 5 components (EJB 3.0 stuff).

I use Netbeans 6.5. Mostly because I am doing some GUI development, and I am not interested in learning all the details of swing. Although I really hate the swing GUI editor with Netbeans.

about 3 years ago, in university for little projects used JCreator. Now use both Eclipse and NetBeans 6.5.

Sometimes have problems with WS in NetBeans (generates too many classes), so automatically generate classes for webservices in Eclipse and then import it to NetBeans :)

I'm a big fan of the jgrasp IDE. Of course, I haven't really tried any other IDE.

Using NetBeans, Eclipse, Notepad++
All depends of what problem i must solve...
I use Notepad++ if this is a small class to test some features..
I use Eclipse, when working on some medium projects - in generally with no GUI
I often use NetBeans to build GUIs fast and new versions of NetBeans brings a lot of plugins so i use it for C\C++ projects to...

And Visual Paradigm brings A LOT of help with UML...

Why do you have to be like that?

I have done my research but I've become frustrated with my search. I keep finding resources for old versions. I felt, as part of my research I would ask fellow developers to recommend me some guides they consider to be good.

Is it so bad to ask fellow programmers for advice on something? I could have sworn that is what this forum is for. I mean, if that is how we're going to roll can we just tell everyone on this forum who has a question to just google it?

And yes I looked at the docs. But I am looking for something with a little more.. guidance. Docs typically are only really helpful if you know what questions to ask. And when it comes to IDEs I have no idea what question to ask.

You know what, just nevermind.
