Video games started it all for me.

Parents bought me an ADAM computer by Coleco Vision when I was 13. It took cassette tapes instead of floppies and all it could do was play Coleco Vision games or run smartBASIC. I spent most of my time programming when I couldn't be outside. I was hooked.

Back in middle school I hated doing the same math problems over and over and over and over.......

But... I've always been a programmer at heart

Well when I was 8 (15 now) I guess I heard something about the history of computers and computer programming on TV. So then I decided I wanted to do that, and dove head first into C++. I realized I was in over my head and switched over to learning HTML, and started working my way back up. I got to C++ when I was 10 but from then until about 7 months ago I slacked off on learning programming. But things are going very well as I can write in C++, some Java, some C#, a little PHP, HTML, Javascript, CSS and some Ruby. Of course I have spend a few hundred dollars on programming books...

Software development was always something I wanted and enjoyed to do. Sometimes I just wanted to create something of my own - with my own set of features and then constantly update that specific product by adding many more features. Since 1998, when I first saw Visual Basic, I am constantly working on some applications.

I got a Amstrad 6128 when i was about 8/9 years old, I used to get a magazine that would have the source code for simple games in basic 1.0, i would always try to make the game better or add in new features so thats what probably got me first into programming.

Also i had a friend at school how had the same computer i used to go to his house one day after school each week and program games with him!

I was trying to decide on a major in college and my father said to me, "You like Computers, get a Computer Science degree", and as I would soon find out, knowing how to operate or likeing a Computer and programming were two different animals.

At first I didn't get it, I don't know if it was the terrible book we used for the class or the fact that the prof presented the material as if we already had yrs of experience programming, either way it was all greek to me. To top that off my advisor at the time told me that maybe it wasn't for me and I should try something else, that caused me to snap and one day it all just clicked and everything seemed so simple.

I was always programming something, one classmate asked me did I sleep in code. I started getting all my projects done two weeks before due date, it's like I had to learn it in and out, sometimes I'd do a whole project over from scatch just to make sure I got it. I once coded for 16 straight hours. I started tutoring and became a Teacher's Assistant.

I like programming, it's cool.

I used to use various tools to edit memory addresses in a game (Phantasy Star Online) with some people online and i wanted to be able to make my own. Never did since i started after i had finished with the game but it was that in combination with Halo 2 modding
