I have Ubuntu/XP 64 on my PC and Vista on my laptop.

I am seeing a vision, a vision of this turning into another "My OS is better than your OS" thread :)

Can't be doing with the new windows myself, XP is ok - it's nice and sleak and it works fine for my desktop/gaming pc, but when I'm working I prefer linux ..on windows I just don't feel like I have real control..

Yeah that is one big subject and very popular at gaming/programming communities. Its even larger if you make the question "Wich OS do you use and why?" :P

Re: Operating System

In my 24 short years, I have sampled many operating systems.
I started out with DOS 2.0 and I still remember some commands (I was, like, 5 at the time).
Then I remember we got this cool program called Windows 3.1. I didn't understand the point of it, but I do remember taking a tutorial on how to use a mouse.
Then I successively went through Windows 95, 98, 2000/ME, XP and Vista.
Each one was worse than before (except perhaps 2000/ME was better than 98, but then, anything is better than 98) and after fighting Vista for 8 months, gave up and made the move to Linux.
At first I dual booted them, but it was a real pain. So, I formatted my computer, and made the leap to Linux.
I've been flying ever since.
I don't understand how people can stand to use Windows, except that maybe they don't know any better.
People, let me tell you, once you try something else, you will never be able to use Windows again.
Try it.

I Agree 100% on this one! UNIX FTW! It's like people accept that their computer should crash or do stuff they don't want... i just do not understand it....

Linux is good, but it can be more hassle than it's worth, sometimes it's just easier to have a windows computer for say.. gaming, and then use Linux for everything else. Plus, if you look after your windows then it doesn't crash as much, I know mine doesn't ;) and this installs 3 years old..
