Hello,
On my home network we use a Netgear DGN834N Router (Supposedly capable of speed of 227Mbps+). However, the speeds we see are around 59k!
All of the computers on my network all have the same issue: we cannot get a connection speed or download speed faster than 59k; even though we all have network cards capable of 11Mbps+ (I'm using a Realtek 802.11B Wireless Card capable of 11Mbps).
Does anyone have an idea of what could be causing this or how to fix it? Also is it worth spending £69 on a Netgear Wireless Card specifically designed to work with this router to see if that solves the problem?
Note: an average of 4 computers connect to the network at any one time, however, the problem still persists even if there is only one computer connected to the network.
Regards,
Ashley H.

N hasn't been released. So it maybe draft N but that doesn't mean things are going to be going at N speeds. Unless your COMPUTER has a draft N compatible card which matches the draft N implementation, you will not experience those speeds. As stated above you have a wireless B card and therefor will not get anything better then wireless B speeds. The farther from the router you are the lower your link quality and the slower your speed will be. What is your signal strength? Even with B though a full 11Mbps is higher then most connections will go. What makes you think your download speed is 59K? it could be the server youre downloading from. Try another place to download from. Also try a speed test. Just search google for connection speed test to find some.

Yes true
Check the channel I have my draft N next to me now and before I could only get a 25mbps when my G card takes 54mbps plus N goes faster than this so it was a problem the channel it was set on.So change the channel look on the internal setting.
