My Glock 22 .40

Posted 01 April 2009 - 06:50 AM

Well, I finally decided to do it. I bought a Glock.
And for a time it was good. Until I broke the rules in the handbook and dis-assembled the slide. While Cleaning my new gun (I am uptight about a clean gun) I stripped my slide. I removed the firing pen and the extractor plunger, then i made a mistake. I removed the Triger safety. While cleaning the firing pin trigger safety, the spring fell off. OMFG. I was able to reassemble the weapon (with the spring inserted back into the safety, but not attached) and it passed all the standard safety checks. However, I haven't fired it since.

Anyone here have a glock and had a similiar experience? Can I still safely use my firearm?

For the record, GLOCK PWNS. I broke the rules like a nooblet.

I don't see why not
If you really think it's messed up then take it to your local smith and have him give it a once over.
My smith would probably only charge me about 10-15 to check it out for me.(more if it had to be fixed)

I think you should try it, like russian roulette, put it to your head.
Why the hell did you go buy a gun for? Especially a Glock, those are only for hunting humans.
You really don't sound like you're reliable around guns anyways so how did you get a permit in the first place.

So because he disassembled his gun you accuse him of not being responsible?

I agree take it to your local gunsmith. Glock makes nice guns, but I prefer S&W.

Hey now... handguns are not for hunting humans - they are for hunting the modern super animals: the flying squirrel and the electric eel.

On a side note - I am probably going to get a .22 to get my target practice down (pew pew pew), and eventually drop the cash on a better piece. After that it's on the conceal and carry permit for the win!

First off, YOU DO NOT NEED A PERMIT TO BUY A HANDGUN (in Louisiana)(I didn't even have to register it...). So because I want my gun to stay clean and operate properly (as such, operate safely) I am somehow unsafe with guns? Cleaning the firing pin was my intent, but i clean EVERYTHING.

When your awaken in the middle of the night by a robber.... do you want your crappy Ruger SR9 to jam becuase you have GSR in the slide?

Anyway, The spring is in the same place, its just no longer attached to the safety pin.
I will be talking to a gun smith.
I still sleep with it next to my bed with a live one in the chamber :)

Actually, if I was awakened by a robber, the last thing I would want is a pistol of any kind. They are not very suitable for home defense.
If you want a firearm for home defense, the absolute best weapon - hands down - is a shotgun. Any gauge, but I personally would keep the barrel short.
And yes, I have a plethora of firearms from rifle's and shotguns to 3 different types of black powder rifles. 2 bows and a crossbow(allowed to use it during gun season here!) So, I am not one of those prudish people who don't believe you should ever own a gun :)
Also, I never did understand the point of a carry permit. Where are you going that you need to carry a gun with you? I work in downtown Detroit and don't need one. jmo

btw, I grew up in LA(don't know if you know where Kenner or Metairie are)

Forgive Gloin, he's from Sweden. And before all you Euros/PC people jump down my throat...think about it. You all have a different mindset. Other examples include, enjoying a 50%+ tax rate, nationalized health care, and hating guns, feeling that if they only went away, the world would be a better place.

Thanks allz

I'm all for privatized healthcare and you'll have to look hard for people in Sweden who are opposed to high taxes the way I am. I still prefer that to having guns in everyones homes.

Can any of you americans tell me why you NEED to have guns in your homes? And don't say because guns are fun, that just doesn't hold.
