Can someone help with flowchart design? The instuctor gives no book, no syllabus, and only writes on the whiteboard!!! He says, see it's easy

I'm in the DC area going to NVCC.

Thanks,

SK Rose

Yes, we have to do flowcharts for programming. It's a 100 level class. For example, I can do something simple like:

If the movie ticket price is less than 10, go to the movies, otherwise stay home. But he just doesn't give us any more details and asks us to do the following:

Length and width of a room is 12 meters and 10 meters respectively. It is to be carpeted. Input sq ft cost of carpeting. If total cost of carpeting is less than $1500, then print, "Can be accepted" otherwise "not possible."

If I could get the hang of two or three good examples, I'm sure I could get deeper into the assignment. Any assistance is appreciated. I have searched and haven't found any tutorials.

Thanks,
SK Rose

I've studied more and here's my first flowchart. My instructor has these "cutout" boxes he says are for "asking for input" and "printing". So they might look strange!

the last two boxes (before stop) are supposed to be print boxes.

Question: does it look like the correct way to print two numbers?

Problem: Input two numbers. Develop a flowchart to print large number first, followed by small number.

Thanks,

SK Rose

I changed the flowchart, but I still wonder if the print box is correct. I'll post more flowcharts over the weekend in case someone wants to comment.

Thanks,

Here is another chart.

Problem: Input two numbers. Develop a flowchart to subtract larger number from smaller number and print the answer.

Any comments?

In my third flowchart i have a few doubts

Did I declare the length and width correctly? Did I convert square meters to square feet properly?

Problem: Length and width of a room is 12 meter and 10 meter respectively. It is to be carpeted. Input sq ft cost of carpeting. If total cost of carpeting is less than $1500, then print “Can be accepted” otherwise “not possible”.

they're getting harder :(

btw, my professor makes alot of typos. i'm block copying word for word!

I have no idea if this is correct, but it looks good to me.

Develop a flowchart for the following problem:

Problem: In a company, orders are placed by following procedure: Inquiries are sent to various vendors. In reply venders send quotations:

If credit is less than 1 week, order cannot be given
If credit is more than 3 weeks order can be given
If credit is less than 4 weeks but 10% discount is given, then order can be given.

hmmm... no takers yet.

this was the hardest one yet. i have two left and they have loops. BOO

maybe i'll get to those tomorrow. any comments are appreciated.

Problem: Develop a flowchart for the following problem: Following is the sales tax policy for sales of goods:

For sales price above $30000 – 10%
For sales price between $15001 and 29999 – 15%
For sales price between $10001 and 15000 – 17%
For sales price up to 10000 – 20%

Take required inputs and print total price.

wow..ok so I have just finished going through everything you are, let me tell you it is no fun I too have a teacher that does no good! So far I have taught myself and in 5 years my 100 logic class me and another student are the first two to get A's (in 5 years). I have scanned through your problems and some seem like they are missing info, but what I will suggest is this ask your prof/teacher/whteve about setting up your flowchart in" methods" such as "housekeeping()" . What this will do is make your flowchart less redundant, which in return will shorten it up and you can fit the chart to the page. More importantly after you learn to declare your variables and constants it makes flowcharts and pseudocode much easier to write. I also read that you have no book, if you can get the money together I suggest picking up this book on Logic, you can get a used copy at half.com here is the link http://bit.ly/2Z5B0 . Give me some time and I can get all of my pseudocode and flowcharts together and start a thread somewhere. I will be sure to let you know.

p.s get a copy of visio it will make your life much easier
