But let's think about that. say 256 colours at 640 x 480. Not that high a resolution or colour depth. If my maths is correct, that's (640 * 480)^256 images.

That's 1.45 x 10^1046 images.

Let's say you couls produce 1000 images a second.
That's 1.45 x 10^1043 seconds
4.71 x 10^1395 years

The universe has been about for 14000000000 years.
that's 1.4 x 10^10.

You're going to need a LONG time to do that test

I did get it wrong. It should be 256^(640 * 480). That's even bigger!
