my point is basically, stop limiting your options by hunting down this rare breed of woman and just start talking to people and having experiences with them, you're interests are your interests and maybe that means you find and connect with someone who has those, but there is the very real possibility that you have that connection with someone who doesn't necessarily have those interests yet, and it would be sad to miss out on it cause everyone wants a girl that goes to lan parties.

Its perhaps easier for some to talk to a girl that they know share a common interest with in this case probably gaming. In my experiance most girls that play are good looking, but I guess I am just "lucky"

It can (for some) be harder to talk with a person of the opposite sex if they dont have a common interest probably thats why many use alcohol as a reason to dare speak with someone. Bad reason but thats for them to discover.

For me geek is not something bad! For me a geek is a person that know alot of one or more subjects, but people use it as a degrading word now for some reason some even uses it in the wrong context. Envy is perhaps one of the reasons.

But the topic creator probably meant a girl that either is a programmer or a gamer (I believe the later). Seems like people now days wanna put everything thats not include alot of drinking and having sex with unknown people in the "geek" catagory

Personally, I believe geek used to have the same connotation as nerd
I think now geek isn't normally used in a derogatory way like nerd is.
Just a way to describe the person who saves your rump when your comp crashes, you accidentally deleted a file, or your TIVO(formerly VCR) lost all it's scheduling
To me and most people I know, it just means a techie - either hardware or software - doesn't matter.

True, but it's a sad panda who has no interests beyond the stereotypical "geek" interests.

Case in point: My girlfriend and I met when she PMed me on a forum saying that I'd used a word in my profile that was similar to a Swedish word, so was it related? The word in question was Icelandic so we got started talking about languages and their connections to each other - I've always been interested in European languages/history and it turned out that she's a Swedish translator with a degree in linguistics. I almost certainly would have never met her (or moved to Sweden with her) if I didn't have interests outside of just gaming and programming.
