Text Extraction From Image

Hi

I need to extract text from JPEG image.
I am not sure if i will be able to do it in MATLAB or openCV
both are new environment for me.
Since i have a short time i need to do it but i am afride that choosing one method and not successing it.
i am having a 7000 picture files and i need to extract text from it
