hi to all
basically i am a vb6 programmer with some basic maths knowledge
so when i switch over to vb.net it's a big thing to me
i go search for everything in dreamincode, google, yahoo, and some search sites

you know
   app.path

to
my.application.info.directorypath()

i search this thing also

then very later i know there is a built in utility in VS in the tools menu,
so i decided to go to a basic course for vb.net to know about the VSIDE

there, i only know about the known things,
then i self study it

i use the old vb6 functions in vb.net
when i came to post a tutorial on vb.net section here PsychoCoder insist me avoid the old msgbox function and use the messagebox.show and also insist me to avoid the legacy vb6 functions

now i am work with in an account's application with some neat coding thank's to dream-in-code

i think, still a long way to go in this journey

well almost 4 years hope i will be in that list soon

I have been programming in Visual Basic since version 1.0 and in VB .NET since 2000. I was a programming writer at Microsoft when .NET was being developed and wrote a LOT of sample programs for ADO .NET. I don't use VB .NET at work but I still actively program in VB .NET for my personal projects. Lately I've been working on learning to write apps for the Windows Store using VB and Visual Studio 2013.

Hi, I started programming with a little Casio handheld thing way back in the 80's, like others posters, am self-taught. I have 14 plus years as a commercial programmer and used Visual Basic from inception up to version 6, had a long break (got into another field running my own business) and now am back to programming. Have dabbled in VB.net on and off for a few years but now have gotten back into VB.NET in earnest. Now, after a short course on VB.net, feel comfortable call myself a VB.NET programmer.
Right now I am working on a recreation of a project I originally did in VB6, a product planner for the cabinetry and doors manufacturing sector.

I started coding when I was very young in Basic on my amstrad in the early 80s, love code and just kept at it with VB and many others. The birth of the internet had me go down a different path in my coding. I work as a software developer, mostly web but when I get the opportunity to code systems with vb.net im in my element. I specialise in automation and taking the boring repetitive tasks in your office and getting the PC to do it for you. I might not have the most efficient code as its always a learning curve but I do try to help others. Hopefully my knowledge is useful to some.

I recognize that the thread is old but surprisingly not dead.

I'm a Visual Basic .NET programmer. I started programming in March of 2011 on Visual Basic 2010 Express targeting the .NET framework 4.0 as a hobby, while I have only had 3 professional jobs they have all been in Visual Basic .NET.

I am sort of a .NET purist and avoid the Microsoft.VisualBasic namespace like the plague. I utilize LINQ and delegates as often as possible. I enjoy programming in Visual Basic .NET because of the simple to read syntax.

With all that being said... I believe that the future is not in windows development but instead in web development targeting mobile platforms, so the majority of my programming recently has been targeting HTML/CSS/Javascript(or JQuery) and not in Visual Basic .NET.
