A person who values reason and logic above all else, but often fails to exercise such abilities in a variety of circumstances; when confronted, will often vie for a way out rather then discuss something with aforementioned logic and reason.

Doesn't everyone sometimes to fail to exercise logic and reason?

Yes, but to the extent actual conversations I've had with atheists have turned is astonishing to me. It's a sort of "you can dish it, but can't take it" mentality. God forbid someone would be willing and able to argue a counterpoint to the belief that there is no God.

I see atheism as just another belief system. No better or worse than others, just another way of dealing with the noumenon.

Yet you will be hard pressed (at least I am ) to find an theist that understands that. Each one that I have met doesn't consider atheism to be a belief system. Belief that nothing is out there is still a belief.

Agreed.
Atheist generally get cranky when you call atheism a religion. Religion implies faith. Regardless of the terms, having a "belief system" is simply unavoidable. If the belief is that religion is meaningless or a waste of time, that's still a belief.
Most people aren't real comfortable with the reality that it's ultimately impossible to know anything for sure. We function based on our assumptions. When we feel those assumptions have proved themselves, we're hard pressed to let go of them, even in light of further information.
My cat believes there is doppelganger that lives on the other side of the mirror. There's now nothing we can do to convince him otherwise. We like to believe we're smarter than cats, but some days I have my doubts.

Athiest is someone who doesn't believe in a certain religion. They believe that they themselves get them through the day, and are perfectly content with the fact that they only rely on themselves for emotional support. Sometimes they will turn to others, but generally athiests aren't that open.
