I have done programming in C and C++, C#, VB6 and VB.NET. I want to get started with Java applets. I know I need the Java SDK. I think an IDE would be a good idea, like NetBeans. I have a book it is a little dated, copyright 2000. It is called, Computing Concepts with Java 2 Essentials.
Is there anything else that I need to get started with applets?

Just read the book and get familiar with the syntax and API. Also will need to know basic HTML to make a page to play the applet in a web browser
