Hello there. If you're reading this, then the word (more of a term really) 'Templated Meta-programming' (TMP) hasn't totally scared the crap out of you, and you're curious as to what this post is about. Right?
OK. First off, let me explain what this is. It's not a TMP tutorial! It's just some opinions on the...

Code Rants (and Misc. Other Things) > Vala and C++, a test of Speed
Posted 18 January 2004
OK. I've recently become addicted to Vala, and though I like C++ the best, I do find Vala to be refreshing. Vala's syntax is just like that of Java and C#, but of course it's fundamentally different in that it doesn't use a VM, and is plainly compiled like C++. It also has all the features of C++ (pointers and destructors for...

My main interests are those related to computer programming and mathematics.
Specifically, I spend a majority of my time studying the dark art of Compiler Design. Though I have no strict intentions of building my own programming language, I find the topic absolutely fascinating because of the way it so nicely integrates concepts from mathematics, and linguistics; that is, it is theory and practice all in one place. Virtual Machines and Parsing Methods alone can keep me busy for hours! :)
I also love guitars and Classic Rock music. - Full Name:

My main language is C. I used to use C++ quite a bit, but often found it to be messy. C is much simpler and enough for most things.
I love playing around with the Lua language, and I'm currently learning Haskell (when I have the time.) I'm also fond of misc. Assembly Languages, but don't really use them.
