Thanks for sharing your code, I was doing minifilter and callback concepts, but think USN could fit in quite nicely for fitting in changes, I only need to use a callback or minifilter (if I go back to C++) to enforce advanced business rules/retention code. This is really nice and helps me get my feet wet again with some other winapi calls.

    hi StCroixSkipper!
    you're a savior!
i saw your USN Journal Explorer and was pretty impressed.
i also saw your code to get path.
actually i want paths of all files in the drive, but the path getting function is quite slowing down your otherwise lightning fast code.
can you do something or tell me what to do?
i will willingly do that on ...

The Enumerating the Master File Table is the same structure that NTFS uses. If anything, it will show files/folders that the 'file system' doesn't expose. I have never personally seen a problem using the USN Journal properly. I've used similar code in several commercial products.

Jeffrey Richter wrote an article on using the USN Journal in C++. It was the article that got me thinking about a C# version. I'm sure I recognized him in one of my posts. Search on Jeffrey Richter USN Journal and stcroixskipper and you'll find it.

    PS:
You mentioned in one of your first blog posts that you know C++.
Is there any change you have made a C++ version of this C# demo program ?

I liked your blog posts on the NTFS USN journal.
Any chance you will make more blog posts, perhaps using C++ instead of C# ?
I wonder, since your last blog post on USN Journal have you done any
    more work on it ?
Discovered any limitations or other issues with it ?
Using the USN Journal to enumerate all files on a volume, is that a good idea ?
