  1. In Topic: Is there an easier/better way?

    Posted 20 May 2015

    Personally i would make all those " WHERE [_Company] like '%" strings in constants for example:
    Private Const DateWhere As String = " WHERE [_Date] like '%@Date%'"

    then i would use variables for your if like this
    Dim dateVal As String
    Dim companyVal As String
     If Me.radDate.Checked = True Then
                    If Me.cmbDate.Text = "Specific..." Then
                        dateVal = Me.txtSearch.Text
                        sQuery = sQuery & DateWhere
                        dateVal = Me.cmbDate.Text
                        sQuery = sQuery & DateWhere
                    End If
                ElseIf Me.radCompany.Checked = True Then
                    companyVal = Me.txtSearch.Text

    then i would use parametarized queries.

    Using cn As New SqlConnection("Your connection string here"), _
            cmd As New SqlCommand(sQuery, cn)
            cmd.Parameters.Add("@Date", SqlDbType.VarChar, 50).Value = dateVal

    Be aware that you must use correct database types for the parameters. You can do a little more cleaning with the if statements.

    Hope that helps :)

    Posted 17 Mar 2015

    Say what now? If you want to dynamically choose the column which to update perhaps you can use the selecteditem or selectedvalue which is good for your design etc. of the combobox and create your query. something like query="update Payroll set " & combobox.selectedvalue & " where id=@id". Also i would recommend you use parameterized queries

    best regards
  3. In Topic: how do u save array data into file.

    Well you can always try to loop the array and save it in a file. Have you tried something? Dose your code give you any errors?

  4. In Topic: how to get the selected value of datagridview in textbox in vb.net

    Posted 10 Mar 2015

    Hi there,
    You're probably using VB.NET with that visual studio. Anyway using TextChange Event in the textbox you can update the datagrid. Give it some try and post us back here with the code that you have worked on if you have more troubles and we will be more then happy to take a look at it and help you :)/>

    Best Regards
  5. In Topic: What's your phone?

    Posted 28 Jan 2015

    I had nexus 5 and change it to LG G3. G3 have better battery life better display better camera. And since its not pure android the bugs that 5.1 have do not exist in LG G3. As for now the best deal that i have made is to trade the nexus for this phone. As for the battery on standby without too much talking on it i drain 10% per day. But if i start using youtube and other stuff like that the drain is insane though less then nexus5. there are a lot of cool features that LG put on this phone including split screen that is kinda useful from time to time.

    I'm wondering how I could save data that I have created in an MSFlexGrid to either an excel file or CSV or the like to be able to save user input settings in the VB6 environment?
