    @Thelasers, if you're using the latest updated files at http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/44808-simple-text-chat-box/page__view__findpost__p__1365986
    open the chatbox.js file and update the EMOTIONS array at the very first line which maps the smiley code with its image replacment (found inside emotions folder).
