  1. In Topic: How to run that program on Microsoft visual studio 2010

    Posted 30 Apr 2013

const num=50; the error is self explanatory, num has no type, and must have:

    Quote

error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int

For the rest of errors, right click on project name->Properties->Character Set, here set Use Multi-Byte Character Set.
  2. In Topic: Binary search

    Posted 11 Nov 2012

    int binary_search (int arr,int low,int high,int target)
As you pass "arr", it is an integer rather than an array of integer. Correct this...
  3. In Topic: Why is this code doing this? (String/Integer concatenation)

    Posted 2 Nov 2012

Just because you can't concatenate (that easy) two "objects" together, or two primitives let's say, like you would in C# or Java. In your case the syntax is valid because the compiler will interpret string literals as a const char * (in your case " divided by 5 is " is a const char*). Using + operator between a pointer and an integer is perfectly valid but in your case you won't get the desired output. In order for your compiler to interpret the string literal as a STL string, just cast it: return std::string(" divided by 5 is ") + b;, and now the compiler will surely throw an error, because b should be a STL string too in order for the + operator to work ... so you just need to find a way to convert (NOT CAST) b to a std::string
  4. In Topic: C# Factorial Return 0 or Negative Numbers?

    Posted 2 May 2012

    20! equals 2432902008176640000 which won't fit in a long.
    Try BigInteger ?
  5. In Topic: Error unresolved external symbol in grader program

    Posted 28 Apr 2012

Umm you didn't implement Report::print_heading() anywhere ... it's only defined.
