Personal Portal
You mean a blog? So something like a wordpress CMS?
Well users can add their items in their personal profile such as todo lists, calendar, favorite links, university online applications etc. Admin can publish announcements regarding the website and faculty news too.
Oh all of that can be put in portlets.
@Xupicor
It is a personal portal so it is kind of like a personal blog but with portlets where users can add their fav. links or stuff in it. This is for my department. -

LifeRay seems promising because of the good reviews I read from Google.
But there are other frameworks that does the same thing. Is there any difference between other frameworks? Which one do you think is good in terms of developing the codes? -

Is Thinkpad T or X series any good?
I've been asking this question to several forums, they all say Thinkpad is good. What do you think? -

I forgot to mention that I'm self-learning on developing Android app. I don't care about the popularity though, I just want to get the experience of developing an app for mobile.
And thanks for your response. I'll consider that for my laptop. Right now I'm using my dad's old Acer, installed Ubuntu on it. And it lags so hard. -

Thank you guys for your wonderful information. ProjectEulers seems cool. I'll give it a try now.
To asnwer modi's question about what I usually do besides programming is I read too much (astronomy, science and all that stuff) which I think is half-necessary for me to focus on now
I know it's a good thing, though I need to balance my interest too. Science + programming = some cool products, right? Ha
