    Rectangles are defined as (X position, Y position, Width, Height), but you got the gist of it.

    Your best bet is to create rectangles to keep track of the position of each object, then use a simple if check:
    if (player.rect.Collides(square.rect))
    {
        // Collect the square...
    }
    
    


    I can elaborate a bit more if you need, but this should point you in the right direction.

    about the program: it was doing something weird. since then I've moved on and now I have an array problem. I'm trying to assign rand chars in for the i's (user defined amount) but only one is printing. I've done many arrays this semester and this is the first. if you come across the post help would be greatly appreciated.
