In Topic: Best way to create HUD using DirectX?

Could you maybe elaborate just a bit? What I want to do is create a HUD that has various indicators, like a health bar, an ammunition bar, etc. I've been doing more reading and I think another way to do it might be to create triangle strips and then texture them. -

Right now, I think a 2D HUD would be more than satisfactory. Since this is for a course, we basically only have six weeks to develop it, so I think the HUD should be more functional than pretty right now. We can always beautify it later. -

*sigh*. Unfortunately, I still haven't figured out a way to get this to work. In the meantime, I resorted to using 4 divs as lines and drawing a box with them. Barbaric, I know, but I can't find a way around it. -

Can you send me a screenshot of your result then? I know that it seems to work if you don't have the vlc plugin installed, but if you do, it gets drawn behind.
