About Me
Hello.
I am a software developer interested in developing useful tools for sophisticated computer users. I have a web site dedicated to this: www.opalapps.com
So far I have written the utility that helps managing "sparse files" on NTFS volumes under Windows: SparseChecker. If you operate with big files for some reason (typical cases: download managers, torrent clients, virtual machine snapshots/volumes, databases that preallocate disk space, disk images of some sort, ...) check the utility I wrote in order to free some disk space normally occupied by zeros.
Recently I have developed an interest in file formats conversion. All that has something to do with converting files from one format to another interests me significantly. Here is the short list of areas where I guess the file conversion could perform better than it does now: e-book file formats, gps-navigator maps related geo-data, different CAD systems formats, old databases, virtual machine disk images and many more. I am learning a lot about specifications and software implementation of different file formats. So if you happen to have some problems with file format conversion - just let me know. I more likely could help or at least discuss the problem.
