    I know that it will be 9 ... but why should the printf not stop at the first null character encountered ? at display the result as 6 ?

    I was actually trying to implement that version of the program in C it worked fine in C++ ...

    I am still getting that error, since I posted the txt file as the forum does not allow me to attach the .c file ...the bracket comes up in the line above ... if you press enter and align it properly no extra bracket has been used... so that I suppose isnt the error !
