Posted 3 Nov 2013Oh and another thing with the trackpad, if it is left running for a while then the cursor wont move, however you can still tap on it. I do however question whether this is windows or if it is the hardware.
Posted 3 Nov 2013In regards to the trackpad, I would prefer to be able to travel without carrying a mouse with me if I am on the go, this necessitates the use of the trackpad, I have looked in the settings for the trackpad and it seems to only allow you to remove the gestures added by the manufacturer not microsoft. This means I can remove two finger scrolling and the like.

Quotemy problems with windows 8.
I could write pages in response to that but I will keep it concise, my biggest problems are:
I am using a laptop, and occasionally I must use a touchpad instead of a mouse, windows 8 seems to have stupid gestures which opens the charms bar whenever swiping right to left on the touch pad, this makes touchpads next to unusable on windows 8. It is possible to disable this by modifying registry keys and as far as I could tell it only works on the beta versions of windows 8. When using the charms bar on windows 8 with a mouse it opens as soon as you bring the mouse to the upper right, this is an issue as whenever i try to access something in that area of the screen it opens, for example the settings menu in google chrome.
The tile system and all the apps, it is stupid and as far as I am concerned it is taking up extra space on the hard-drive.
It is just plain ugly, windows 8 reminds me of a cat that ate a rainbow and barfed on a screen.
It keeps trying to open files in different apps, for example when I try to open an image it tries to open it in the photos app, or the photoviewer, or photoshop, it never seems to be able to make up its mind.
I have figured out how to fix this but windows smart screen, every time I downloaded anything it would tell me about how terrible that file was and that my computer was about to explode even when it was from reputable sites. No thank you windows i have an antivirus more capable than any of the crap you provide.
Now I am starting to sound like an old fart.
Posted 3 Nov 2013You seem to have answered your own question />
You could install the Windows 8.1 update, although it won't bring back Windows 7 />
Or try Everything!
I do have the 8.1 update, and personally I do not see what the fuss is about, it has exceedingly marginal improvements and has done nothing to fix my problems with windows 8.
Posted 10 Oct 2013In Visual Studio,
Debug - Properties - Linker - Additional Dependencies
Add the location to the library you're using.
I have done this, I have tried adding SOIL.lib, and I have also tried adding the full path, neither make any difference. It seems to be working properly because I get completely different errors if I remove them completely:

I will spoiler this if someone tells me how to do that
