  1. In Topic: Confusing node pointer assignement error.

    Posted 9 Nov 2012

    list is an array of node objects. Im grabbing the objects pointers with getAttachedNode() then trying to set it to null or 0 as in c++. Im not just trying to set a member variable to 0.

    I can tell its not valid syntax, but all the others ive tried failed too. Im confused on how to set this pointer to null.

    Each node class contains
    Node *attachedNode[4];

  2. In Topic: Vector not storing file info?

    Posted 8 Nov 2012

    Yes I added the exit() just for right now. Idk why I typed cin, guess I didnt notice since my filestream was so closley named. I never notice the obvious stuff lol Thanks jim.

    Edit: also I appreciate the polite reply to such an obvious error :)
  3. In Topic: Returning a Node error

    Posted 6 Nov 2012

    Ah, ok. So is there a difference between doing Node* as return type and doing.

    Node Node::getAttachedNode(int direction) {return *attachedNode[direction];}

    That was the only problem. Thank you for pointing out my stupidity. ;)
  5. In Topic: Getting line until # is printed on new line.

    Posted 22 Oct 2012

    Yes that was part of what I was trying to figure out. Im trying to have it take in a message "Hello$" push enter causes a new line then enter another message "Im john." then continue until # appears by itself. So I cant just check if its size 1 right?

    Basically the same thing getline(cin, msg, '#') would do but the # causes it to end even if the delim is found inside or on the end of a message.
