there are plenty of dvd ripper programs and quite a few dvd managment programs.

What I am trying to do is combine them in one program and have it automaticly ad it to the database of movies ones you finish.

basicly this is the steps

1. rip dvd
2. menu pops up asking for genre? name? ect...
3. add movie to database.

eventually have it automaticly get on web and look up info on movie info, dvd cover art, ect...

4. click on name
5. watch movie

also, not just doing this to use the program. Main reason is just to learn more about C# and coding in general.

I dont see how this can be illegal btw since you can buy programs that do the same thing at Best Buy or Frys.

also, I am going to be using this in a computer that I built just for mulitmedia. have a 46" in monitor with a tv tuner and surround sound.

I might just tell my program to open WMP and play movie when the name is clicked, and not integrate it.

At least for right now until I learn a little more.

Plan on upgrading program continually as I learn more.

You can legally copy them for backup purpuses only. So as long as you can prove you have the original dvd it is legal.

I have 5 X 1.5 TB hard drives should be enough for at least most of them

The only reason I want to integrate WMP is so I can still use my remote I have lol
