Posted 20 Oct 2012You can use .net framework for this software. this was BE last year's project so I know this thing.
We had used .net as front end and sql in backend to manage data.
Using .Net, it becomes very easy to send and receive sms because .net framework provides a inbuilt library called as mCore sms library for sending and receiving sms.
We had used a sony ericson handset to send messages to the system. You can connect the handset using sony ericson pc suite.

You got to learn objective C programming before you take iphone development book in hand.
Next, to begin with iphone development, you may choose 'iPhone Application Development For Dummies' By Neal Goldstein or iPhone and iPad Apps for Absolute Beginners By Rory Lewis. Both are best.
