  1. In Topic: Looping Grid Position Verification

    Posted 1 May 2013

    Was trying to get the actual grid position as in Row and Column rather than the location of it with X and Y, turns out all I had to do was change the variable to be depending on one value, fixed with the below code:
    Do While X < 546
                If SetupMenu.PatrolBoat.Location = New Point(X, 150) And SetupMenu.PatrolBoat.Size = New Size(97, 46) Then
                    SetupMenu.Label6.Text = Char1 & Num1 & " " & Char1 & Num2
                Else
                    If SetupMenu.PatrolBoat.Location = New Point(X, 150) And SetupMenu.PatrolBoat.Size = New Size(46, 97) Then
                        SetupMenu.Label6.Text = Char1 & Num1 & " " & Char2 & Num1
                    End If
                End If

                Num1 = Num1 + 1
                Num2 = Num2 + 1

                X = X + 51
            Loop

    Lengthy to do multiple times for a Grid but enables at least a horizontal and vertical answer block loop.

    Well then, I have no idea what made me type 1992 but obviously posting at early in the morning in not the brightest idea. Thank you for clearing it up and yes, it was a 2009 film. At least I got the right date on the image itself

    Taking inspiration from the Movie, "April Showers" (1992) based on the true story of the 1999 Columbine High School shooting. Here would be my submission:

    PERFECT!
    Now the ships don't sit half on and half off the grid and they also do not jump to any odd locations, except for when I click and run my Rotate button code. I was not able to figure a way of making it a double click and rotate so I went with a button. Code shown below:
        Private Sub RotatePatrolBoat_Click(sender As System.Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles RotatePatrolBoat.Click
            'Rotates the Ship
            If PatrolBoat.Size = New Size(97, 46) Then
                PatrolBoat.Image.RotateFlip(RotateFlipType.Rotate90FlipNone)
                PatrolBoat.Size = New Size(46, 97)
                Refresh()
            Else
                PatrolBoat.Image.RotateFlip(RotateFlipType.Rotate90FlipNone)
                PatrolBoat.Size = New Size(97, 46)
                Refresh()
            End If

            'Get the nearest location of grid points and moves to them
            PatrolBoat.Location = FindClosePoint(PatrolBoat.Location, PatrolBoat.Size)

            'Corrects rotation if ship returns to Last Position
            If PatrolBoat.Location = LastPosition Then
                PatrolBoat.Image.RotateFlip(RotateFlipType.Rotate90FlipNone)
                PatrolBoat.Size = New Size(97, 46)
                Refresh()
            End If
        End Sub

    Only problem now is that when I click rotate and I have not moved any ships, they all relocate themselves to the top left hand corner or if I have only moved one then they all seem to overlap each other when I do not move the others.
    I did have a problem that caused the ship to rotate even if it was not moved but the last part of code was able to fix that slight error.
