....where did you see these being sold? is it a store or off of craigslist?

Amazon. I added the "Single Core" and "Dual Core" lines because I thought that's what they were, but the rest of the specs were copied and pasted.

Future Pro: If want to compare the computing power, it's best to look at various benchmarks for the two CPUs.

    CPU World
    Anandtech Bench

There are a few other factors in Computer Systems that can ultimately make for a more powerful system, but CPU power is the most influential.

    Sweet, I'll check those out!

    have you tried newegg?

Yes, it seems to be competitive and I had a few friends refer it as well. tbh I am hoping to find the right laptop on Amazon as I have a couple hundred dollars in gift cards there to put towards the purchase.

I have been looking for ways to get involved in my community and have thought of this as well as I live in a really small town. I think Rudi is right, meeting face to face with the business owners/decision makers is key. Although creating some type of template to have the sites made ahead of time seems convenient, my initial thought is that it's a waste of time (aka loss of money). Especially since every business owner has a different vision of their business and if they're willing to hire you, they'll probably have their own vision of what they want.

I'm really curious about this, so please do report back on progress if you do it.

    Good luck!

RudiVisser, thank you for that info and the link to Intel's specs. I appreciate that. It looks like there is quite a big difference and that I should keep focusing on an i7 s long as I can afford it.

Dogstopper is right, if you have the motivation and focus, you can refresh/teach yourself by renting books from the library or purchasing books on-line and participating in forums such as this. Formalized school can obviously help, but don't let its absence be an obstacle to your success.

    Happy Coding!
