    took your advice and tried this with the same error still

    cmp byte ptr [bx], 'a'
jb ok
cmp byte ptr [bx], 'z'
ja ok                
              
and byte ptr [bx], 11011111b ;
                           
cmp byte ptr [bx], 'Z'
jb ok              
cmp byte ptr[bx], 'A'
ja ok

and byte ptr [bx], 11011111b ;


    I'm so confused. I tried this but it continues to give me AA when i input a value of AA.
