Ah. So you're a Marxist? The workers control the means of production and all that good stuff?

No, I believe we should have a technocracy. I think we should figure out much better systems for workers in general. Note I said figure out, because I have no clue how to fix whats going on but we should try something new.

So what we're saying is, soon we can all have even more plastic crap that we don't want and can't really do anything with and can't get rid of? I guess that's what we call progress these days.

(I really want to find the moron who thought this was a good idea and massage their gums with a tire iron.)

No, you are looking at it backwards. Instead of paying other countries to make out cheap crap we can make/replace that stuff on our own. In addition to helping speed up the development process tremendously for inventors and "artists" whatever that means these days.

Until printing with metal becomes affordable and reliable, I don't think 3d printers are much more than a novelty. Unless I'm having a brain fart and can't think of anything, plastics don't have much use other than making little plastic figurines.

Check out all this useful and random stuff that you can make with a 3d printer.

What you are describing is the general idea of lots of 3d printer people. A multi-material/color print head is the goal for many but the best way to reach that goal is up for debate. Also pellet based printing is in the works at a few places but nothing market wide, so its still on filament spools for the most part.

This is probably a re-post but its always interesting to see how other people code. I use tmux + vim + web browser and sometimes gedit if I just quickly make something.

What's the colorscheme you're using in VIM? I've been in the standard "desert" for a while now.

Molokai, I tried a few but for python this worked the best for me. Screenshots and download

Not to mention the monthly pinned thread in the lounge..

    Example:

This looks more like a wallpaper than what I meant. More actual ides, editors, debuggers, and other things you have open and how you have them setup for coding.

I prefer console games, so I play nes/snes emulators on Linux.

When it's viable to game on Linux as well as it is on Windows, I'll switch. Till then, it's Windows 7 for me. :)
