Professional Organizations

Icon 3 Comments
I've belonged to a few different Professional Organizations like the HTML Writers Guild, American Advertising Federation, and a few others. They have the occasional meeting, a monthly newsletter, maybe a certificate or some sort of award they present to their members, but at the end of the day I feel like all they've done was take my money. Maybe I've never gotten involved enough to fully realize the impact these organizations have on the industry, but that's not why I join. I'm interested in meeting other people with similar interests and sharing my knowledge, but it never seems to work out this way. Maybe this is why I enjoy belonging to communities and forums so much.

Are there any professional organizations worth joining? ACM is supposed to be one of the more reputable computer programming organizations...

Nova,

I'm trying to get a mailing list (email) of every computer science instructor in the nation, or at least a good start. You guys have any resources or way for me to say... contact a ton of comp-sci instructors quickly?!?! :)
