Today we are excited to announce the winners of the Dream.In.Code Summer of API contest. Although we didn't have that many entries, some of them were the result of hard work and are really useful in day-to-day Dream.In.Code usage.
And here they are:
1st place:
H3R3T1C - Dream.In.Code for Android
If you have an Android device, and you are an active member of Dream.In.Code, then this application is one of those "things to have installed when you get the device". It allows you to read pretty much everything that is available here on Dream.In.Code. We really like the way the UI was structured - makes it easy to understand and read.
2nd place:
Dogstopper - Dream.In.Code Browser
If you ever thought about browsing Dream.In.Code outside your favorite web browser (there could be reasons for that), then you might want to take a look at DICBrowser. It's written in Java and allows you to read the contents of Dream.In.Code forums without having all additional content present.
3rd place:
aniri - Dream.In.Code Tutorials Mobile
Most of developers here have some sort of mobile devices. Also, a lot of them like reading various things on the Internet right from that device. Why not read Dream.In.Code tutorials among other things? With this web application, users are able to read Dream.In.Code tutorials from a mobile browser without having to download various images and additional content that might not be needed in a mobile environment. Handy, simple and convenient.
Honorable mention:
myork - GRODIC
Although it might seem that there is no practical use for this application, the concept is pretty interesting and it's pretty cool to see what parts of Dream.In.Code are expanding and who gets involved. We enjoyed looking at it. A lot.
Congratulations! During the contest, we got a lot of feedback information regarding the API so we can improve it as DIC grows and changes. Each one of you will be personally contacted in regards to the prizes you won.
Thank you everyone for participation and we look forward for more contests like this!

Wow! Thanks guys! Nice job to H3R3T1C and the other 2 that placed! All were great ideas allowing DIC to be ported to more than a single platform. I enjoyed learning about how real world software development happens, as this is my first major application. Thanks for providing me with this opportunity and for selecting me as a winner!

Big hand for everyone who won and participated to the competition.
I'm a bit disappointed in myself since I didn't finish anything, I left to USA at the end of august so those preparations took a more time than I thought. But it's nice to be here in sunny (atm cloudy
) california for the next 4 months
