Cool Website Tip #1: FileHippo

Icon 5 Comments
This is going to be the first of many posts where I share a cool website that I think helps us programmers and power users.

Today, I'll show you FileHippo.

At first you might think to yourself, why would this be helpful. Isn't it a clone of CNet,, softonic?

Not all at all, and here's why. :)

1. Easily viewed categories.

Software on the site is grouped up nicely on the main page and the main contenders of each category are prominently listed. This means you find what you want, faster.

2. Updates at breakneck speeds.

Software is automatically updated and they offer the latest version of all their repertoire.

3. You can access previous versions of software.

They offer a very comprehensive backlog of software versions. Did you like Winamp 2 back in the day? They offer it, and best of all, with no crap. Just a simple click and download. No timers, no misleading buttons, just a nice purty Download link. That's pretty much the reason why I love this site.

So there you have it, a site that will save you time and make installing software easy. Share this site with your friends and be sure to turn off your adblock for them, good sites deserve the traffic. :)

I've been using FileHippo for a while now, it's great to have a single place where I can download the very latest versions of all of my favourite free software! :D

It seems nice, but the name is misleading. Should probably be called Software Hippo.
