Ok, so I have been running Windows 7 7000 build on my computer for about 2 and a half months now with no problem. I then upgraded to 7057, and there were a few problems.
1) my external monitor would not go past 1024x786(?) res... when it's native res is 1440x900
The fix for this was pretty simple, just go into my Nvidia control panel and adjust it from there.
2) windows media player keeps crashing / does not update full library
I think I may need to just restart my computer... I'll let you know after I do.
3) the desktop.ini thing...
Which is easily fixable... just do a google search.
Hopefully everything will be dealt with soon. Windows 7 is a great operating system, and Microsoft is definitely turning a new leaf with this one. Pun not intended.
EDIT:
It turns out the media player issue was due to using my external hard drive as a samba share on linux. A simple linux boot and deletion of the thumbs.db:encryptable files will fix it right up.
Also, due to activation problems, I have switched back to 7000, which is extremely stable. I definitely recommend it until a better version comes out.
