...for now. I want to let everyone know that my experiences with windows 7 have been nothing but positive, as it had been my primary operating system for the last 3 months. BUT, as a programmer, I can understand just how much work is put into something like this, and, after being told for the umpteenth time that my copy of windows 7 was not genuine, I uninstalled it and reinstalled windows... wait for it... vista. I just wanted to use something I had a license for again i guess. That and my version of windows 7 was going to expire in July.
I've noticed this change coming for a while, I've begun to feel bad about stealing software. There are people trying to make a living off writing and selling this software, and people still decide that they are too good to pay for it and so they steal it. I would be extremely angry if I saw this happening with my own software. So, I say this. I am not condoning pirating software. If you want to try something out for a while, go for it. But, in the end, If you plan to use the software for an expended period of time or for anything professional, you really should just go ahead and buy it.
I know there are a lot of people who are software developers on this website alone, and I am sure at least a few of them have seen this happen.
