Being a Computer Engineering student has it's benefits, like my eventual paycheck, hot girlfriend (ok, ok, maybe that isn't part of it. She is cute though...), and a free copy of Windows 7 Professional (x86). I've got to say, M$ got their shit together. I have had a copy of windows 7 on my computer for the better part of a year, and have always had some small issue with it. Yes, the sound drivers still suck for my computer, but, as dell has stated, only until the end of the month. Which is Good, now I can use skype without my aformentioned girlfriend laughing at me because she thinks my headset looks funny. Windows Media Player stopped sucking the life out of me, and I haven't had a single database corruption since my install (which took about 20 minutes) (yes, I do have a nice computer (Dell XPS m1530, 2.2GHz core duo, 4 Gb Ram...) but this will install about this fast on any PC).
So, what am I saying? Go out and buy windows 7, and put it on your computer. (Alternativley, sign up for computer or electrical engineering at Dalhousie University... but It's a hell of a lot cheaper just to go buy the OS)
Cheers,
Bodom
