What Not To Say When Soliciting Programming Help

First off, LOL.

Secondly, no. That is wrong on several levels, but most importantly because the argument is null and void. One can really only argue/debate/[insert word here] from a position of strength. Oddly enough this applies across the board, not just with technical related activities. In other instances of such a situation, people call it "talking out of one's ass". I would advocate to you, the reader, that you should try to avoid this at all costs. If you don't know something simply state "I don't know". Try it with me now.

I don't know...

Good. Try to follow that up with a "But I'll learn it" or a "I'll research it", or a "Thank you for your input", or even a "Duly noted" (The last one is a polite F' Off FYI).

The experienced programmers are a wealth of knoweldge, unless they do COBOL (I kid, I kid!).

Class dismissed.
