Thanks to digg I was exposed to the following "comic strips":
One
Two
Now, I already knew that CSI wasn't exactly accurate when it comes to technology in regards to forensic science, but the above wasn't too far of a stretch for me to suspend my belief to enjoy a show designed for entertainment,
but then I saw this
Good Lord. If we expand the acronym: I'll create a graphical user interface interface using Visual Basic to track the killer's IP address.
This is wrong on so many levels. Don't these shows have a technology advisor? I bet it's Michael Bay. VISUAL BASIC EXPLOSION!!!
Another example, this video.
For those of you who didn't immediately get it, IP Addressing.
The only explanation I can think of is they intentionally did it much like 555 telephone numbers to ensure no one got "screwed" by the scene.
It would have been all the more humorous if it was a 192.168.x.x IP address.

Thanks giving me a good laugh.
The comic strips just show an elaborate construction of evidence. They just show it in reverse order.
I admit I didn't know that CSI was a comedy show XD

Just as someone commented about the second video you linked.
If this is what happens with the Tech stuff I'd hate to be a real forensics person and watch it.

Wow, it's worse than the tech-talk in Hackers! But then... At least they didn't use a Nintendo Power Glove to sift through the killer's computer hardware for clues.
